Photo of the Week – Down

OK- I am cheating…just taking random photos…but I do have to say so far this challenge is:

1. getting me to take more photos

2. getting me to look at things with intent (which is what I think about when I see Georgia O’Keefe’s work- flowers so close up that you lose the “flower” and just see the color and/or the shape)

which is why I wanted to sign up for this challenge…let’s hope the inspiration continues!

Theme: Down (I like the pattern/details in this one)

Here is one of my cheat photos-

And here is a gratuitous picture of my pup. Awww- cutie!

(This pose reminds me of Hong Kong Phooey…now who remembers that cartoon?)

iPhone4 and instagram

Now I am guessing most of you are thinking that I will talk about how much I love my iPhone and instagram, well…uh…no, sadly.

The iPhone4
(Please note- I realize I am NOT a professional photographer- just recreational, but I do enjoy taking photos…)
Overall I think it is a good “phone” (though I hardly use it as a “phone”) but I miss my Droid. They both have a 5Megapixel camera but what a difference! I miss my Droid camera phone.
Do I just not know how to use my iPhone camera properly? I have tried the HDR mode and see some difference, but it is still not nearly as clear and crisp and detailed as the Droid. Plus, it annoys me that I now have 2 photos I have to deal with… Anyone have any tips, tricks, or recommendations?

There are numerous articles out there that compare the 2 iPhone4 vs. Droid camera. And I think most say the iPhone is better, but I disagree)  Here are a couple –>; and some on flickr –>

I do not know why or how instagram is so popular. How is it that poor quality photos have become so popular? Is it to make up for the lower quality iPhone photos? I DO think they create an interesting effect and is great for certain shots, but overall, I am not a fan. Maybe I need to use it more?

POTD (Pup of the day…)
Does it count if it is my pup and that I just might have to feature him every other day? (I will happily rotate between my 2 pups each day. :))

NOTD (Nail of the Day)
Not only am I addicted to nail polish- but my current obsession is dark polishes. (I want to try to grow out of this before the spring gets here- there are some great spring/summer colors out there!) Ones that almost look black but are just a really dark version of their actual color. I have on Pat on the Black by Sally Hansen but I still want Breaking Curfew by L’Oreal. (Yes, there are better and more accurate color photos out there on the internet, but I want to try to use my own photos if I can) On that note, if you are into nail polish check out Vampy Varnish, All Lacquered Up and Scrangie, just to name a few of my favorites. My hubby said he heard on the news that nail polish sales went up 35 percent! Which he quickly attributed to me. Well…maybe…
